The Doctor - George P. Cerniglia
Since graduating from LSU School of Dentistry in 1986, Dr. Cerniglia has been practicing as a General Dentist in Metairie. Dr. Cerniglia started his own practice in 1989 and has moved to his present office on Houma Blvd. five years ago. Dr. Cerniglia prides himself in providing dentistry as he would like for himself and his family. When you enter the practice you will feel as if you belong to a dental family. The office will make you feel at home while providing a clean, safe, and cozy environment. Whether it is the fountains, aromatherapy candles, televisions in the treatment rooms, live plants or fresh flowers in the front; Dr. Cerniglia takes great pride in the way he pampers his patients.
Dr. Cerniglia's professional affiliations are extensive. Organizations he is involved include: the American Dental Association, Louisiana Dental Association, New Orleans Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation, the Pierre Fauchard Dental Honor Society, the Crescent City Study Club, and the Delta Dental Study Club.
The latter club helps provide free dentistry to the poor and handicapped. Dr. Cerniglia has helped the DDS provide over $500,000 of free dental care to those in need. Dr. Cerniglia has served as President of the LSUSD Alumni Association and has served on the Board of the La. Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Cerniglia averages over 85 hours of Continuing Education each year. The State requirement is 21 hours a year. The extra time shows Dr. Cerniglia's commitment to being the best dentist he can be. This also allows him to keep up the latest in dentistry. This is reflected in his High Tech dental office which includes: Digital Radiography, full Computer Integration, Digital Imaging, Laser Whitening, Relaxation Dentistry, Virtual Reality viewing, Breath control, and Microabrasion (micro-dentistry).
Dr. Cerniglia is married to his wife, Lisa, of over 15 years, and they have 4 children ranging in age from 3 to 13. Dr. Cerniglia loves to spend his free time with his family, working in the garden, and playing tennis. Dr. Cerniglia is involved in his local church as a Eucharistic Minister in St. Ann's Parish, and as a member of the Men of Manresa.
